Summary of Position
Reporting to the Controller, this position will have primary responsibilities for processing accounts payable, accounts receivable and monthly accounting close activities. This position also assists the accounting department and covers the reception duties as needed.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and post journal entries for monthly and year-end close processes.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Reconcile GRNI reports and unprocessed invoices weekly/monthly.
- Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and receivable through ERP system
- Create and maintain proper documentation for audit
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and calculate monthly depreciation.
- Monitor intercompany transactions and ensure proper eliminations.
- Analyze financial data and provide variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards (GAAP).
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures.
- Provide back up to front office reception.
- Process customer and vendor payments.
- Manage email inbox and incoming invoices.
- Assist in audit and special projects as needed.
- Cross train on other accounting functions as needed to provide backup assistance and ensure team development and growth.
- Adhere to the TOMZ Quality Management System.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines and exhibit strong time management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems.
- A self-starter capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- CPA or working toward CPA.
