SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Materials Manager is responsible for managing members of the Supply Chain team with direct oversight of inventory and purchasing procedures of raw materials and other supplies, and coordinating the manufacturing of products to satisfy customer demand. In this position, the Materials Manager will collaborate with customers, other managers, and team members to determine supply needs, and coordinate the timely delivery of product manufactured at TOMZ.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain optimum inventory levels and production schedules to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements.
  • Manage the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments.
  • Responsible for programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, pricing, continuity, and delivery.
  • Establish procedures and supervise the annual physical inventory.
  • Coach and mentor staff members to achieve greatest possible performance.
  • Maintain relationships and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Purchase supplies and materials according to specifications provided.
  • Ensure that company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all operations department functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics or relevant field (manufacturing industry preferred.)
  • APICS Supply Chain Certification Preferred.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • 5 – 7 plus years experience in a logistics role or related experience.
  • Experience in a Supervisory/Management role.
  • Ability to lead and coach direct reports.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain and Inventory Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of forecasting and budgeting.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

The employee is frequently required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while moving tooling, fixtures, equipment and/or small packages.
